The details are somewhat complicated, but in general the following items are exempt in Utah for each person filing:
- Utah homestead exemption — up to $20,000 of equity in a primary residence
- Auto or truck — up to $2,500
- Animals, books and musical instruments — up to $500
- Household goods and clothing — up to $500
- 12 months of provisions
- Health aids (medication)
- Heirlooms — up to $500
- Furniture and appliances — up to $500
- Wages — 75 percent of disposable weekly earnings is exempt from ordinary creditors
